INFORMATION LITERACY DAY (8TH SEPTEMBER)

 International Literacy Day is an international observance, celebrated each year on 8 September, UNESCO declared that on 26 October 1966 at the 14th session of UNESCO's General Conference. It was celebrated for the first time in 1967.

THEME: The theme for International Literacy Day 2024 is "Promoting Multilingual Education: Literacy for Mutual Understanding and Peace

Why it is celebrated?

Since 1967,the annual celebrations of ILD have taken place on 8th September around the world to remind policy makers, practitioners of the critical importance of literacy for creating more literate, just peaceful and sustainable society. In this regard a lecture was delivered  to the students to tell students about the importance of literacy .The aim is to aware and educate the students about the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights. They were educate how they can bring the positive changes to the society with the weapon of literacy.
